How do I rent a boat from your company?

You can easily rent a boat online through our website or by calling our rental office directly.

How old do I have to be to rent a boat?

Our company requires you to be at least 21 years of age to rent. 

Do I need a boating license to rent a boat?

Alabama law requires anyone operating a motorized boat to hold a valid Alabama Vessel Operator's License. If you're a non-resident, you may operate with a boating certification from your home state for up to 45 days per calendar year.

PICK-UP / DROP-OFF LOCATION: 208 Burtwood Acres Road, Jasper, AL 35503

INSTRUCTIONS: This is a residence with a long concrete driveway that has brick columns on either side. Pull down the driveway and park in the space that will be on your left. We will meet you there to assist with your items and ensure you have a smooth start to your boating adventure.

NOTE: Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled rental so that our staff will have time to go over all the boat features. 

Is there a minimum rental period?

The minimum rental period is 1 Day (9:00am to 5:00pm).

Do your boats come with safety gear?

Yes, all of our boats come equipped with necessary safety gear, including life jackets and fire extinguishers.

Can I bring my own food and drinks on the boat?

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own food and drinks on the boat. Please be sure to dispose of any trash properly.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my rental?

We unfortunately cannon control Alabama weather….. But, we will work with you when it comes to severe weather. Cancellations due to severe weather are determined on your rental day. We do not cancel due to weather forecasts. We will call you on the day of your booking to either reschedule or refund your full rental amount.

Please note, severe weather DOES NOT mean cloudy skies, slight to moderate wind, or rain. Our recommendation is to come down to the dock and hope for the best.

Is Alcohol allowed on the boat?

No, alcohol is not allowed on the boat. Lewis Smith Lake is a “dry” lake, meaning alcohol is prohibited across Walker, Cullman, and Winston counties. This rule applies to vessels, individuals, and any structures on the water. Violating this regulation can lead to criminal prosecution by Alabama State Troopers, who regularly patrol the lake. We ask all our guests to respect this law to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone on the water.

What is your cancellation policy?

14 Day Rule: Cancellations must be made at least 14 days before your rental date to receive a full refund. If you cancel within 14 days of your rental date, 50% of the rental amount will be forfeited.

24 Hour Rule: For cancellations made within 24 hours of your rental date, all rental fees will be forfeited. "No shows" will be charged the full booking amount to the renter's credit card.

How to Cancel: All cancellations must be submitted in writing and emailed to info@smithlakerentalboats.com. The date and time stamp on the email we receive will determine the official cancellation time.
